The Yamaha PSR-S900 is the successor to the Yamaha PSR-S700 model. The S900 has almost 400 instrument voices built in it, several of them which were formerly only available in the Tyros2 arranger workstation. It has new voices, such as the live grand piano. Yamaha developed their own set of improvements to the General MIDI standard and called it XG. Many of their current range of products, from their high-end synths to "toy" keyboards, support the XG standard.

Yamaha is also known for the Yamaha Music Education System, a renowned system for teaching musical skills to children between the ages of 3 and 9.

Yamaha is also known to extend from microchips to motors in vehicles. The company has a line of motorcycles and motor engines for various different automobiles.
